AT THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY FATHERS The Thursday book
The Tuesday book with father Stephen is well established in Shrewsbury! During Covid, we moved Online and a broad swathe of supplementary books, with discussion, have been read during the years. These range from Scripture and church history through to theology and liturgy. These have recently included The Life in Christ by Nicholas Cabasilas, the Religion of the Apostles by Stephen de Young and the Minor prophets ( these latter give a lot of insight into the Jewish understanding of God , leading to the coming of the Messiah).
The Thursday book follows on from the Memorial service at 10.30, in most weeks without a weekday Liturgy. The subjects are usually more orientated to the Liturgical year and religious practise within the parish. We are currently coming to the end of Aidan Hart’s execellent study on the feasts of the Liturgical Year – a book every church should have!
